Jacky “Jack” L. Van Dyke passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

Visitation was held at the Hrbak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine on Friday, June 28, 2013 with Memorial services on Saturday, June 29, 2013 with military rites by the Enright-Schrader American Legion Post # 73 from Tama, Iowa. Burial followed at the Highland Cemetery, Richland, Iowa.

Jacky (Jack) L. Van Dyke was born May 25, 1938 in Richland, Iowa to Eryl and Edith Gengles Van Dyke. He graduated from Richland High School in 1956. Following graduation Jacky enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving six years aboard the USS Hellowstone, then re-enlisting in 1961 until 1963, serving most of these years as a radio operator.

Jacky was married to Ila McBride on September 29, 1956 in Norfolk, Virginia. They moved to Vining, Iowa in 1972. Jackie worked as the area maintenance supervisor for the U.S. Postal, Service.

Survvivors include his wife, Ila, sons, Gary (Patricia) St. Charles, Iowa, Daniel (Maria) of Vinton , Iowa; Brother, George (Cheryl) of Nichols, Iowa; Sisters, Shirley Reynolds of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kathryn (David) Klaus of Burlington, Iowa. Also by four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a grandchild, Cynthia Hall. Special thanks to the staff at Essence of Life Hospicel Dr. C. Gosh and his staff.
