Shelly Ann Edwards, age 55, of Morning Sun, died Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. The daughter of David J. and Ruthie Atkinson Masson, she was born on November 20, 1957 in Washington, Iowa. Shelly married Kevin Edwards on September 29, 1980, in Morning Sun.

She graduated from Winfield-Mt. Union High School in 1976. Shelly graduated from Southeastern Community College in West Burlington and attended the University of Iowa. She was currently a credential clerk at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Shelly enjoyed vacationing and cruises especially relating to Disney. She also enjoyed reading, swimming, and word puzzles.

Her family includes her husband, Kevin; a daughter, Samantha & Andrew McSorley of Riverside; a son, Noah & Caitlin Edwards of Lexington Park, Maryland; a granddaughter, Blakely McSorley; two sisters, Johnette Evans of Mesa, Arizona and Lana & Dennis Spears of Mediapolis; and two brothers, David Masson of Mediapolis and Bob & Deb Masson of Oakville. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Jason Bitting.

The funeral ceremony for Shelly Edwards was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Morning Sun with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial followed at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Friends could call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. The family met with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Centenary United Methodist Church and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
