Ervel Juanita Johnson

Ervel Juanita Johnson, 74, of 317 N. 15th St., Keokuk, died Saturday, June 29, at her home.

She was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Oneonta, Ala., to Obie Jefferson and Julia Idella Heard Tuck. She married Herman Johnson on Oct. 3, 1945, in Fort McClellan, Ala. He survives.

Other survivors include; a son, Herman G. Johnson of Keokuk; a daughter, J. Lynn Johnson of Keokuk; three sisters, Sara Beth Tuck, Lavelle Tuck and Miriam Jenkins, all of Oneonta, Ala., and three brothers, Robert Tuck, Obie Jr. Tuck and Rudy Tuck, all of Oneonta.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She had lived in Keokuk for 50 years, and had been employed at Huiskamp Shoe Factory, Page Meat Locker and First Baptist Church for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a deaconess. She served on many committees, started the clothers closet at the church, and was chairman of the nursery program.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at DeJong's Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jeff Moody and M. E. VanAntwerp officiating.

Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitaion is after 1 p.m. today at the DeJong's Funeral Home, and the family will meet with friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.

DeJong's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
