Herman G. Johnson Of Argyle Dies in Hospital Here Today

Herman G. Johnson Sr. of ARgyle died at 11:50 a.m. today in the Grahm hospital a short time after his admittance. He had been in poor health for four years and seriously ill four days.

The son of Andrew and Ogda Bertstrom Johnson, he was born January 19, 1896 in Summitville and spent all of his life in Lee county. He was a carpenter by trade.

On March 26, 1917 he married Lola Brown in the Powder Works settlement.

He was a member of the First Lutheran church of Keokuk and of the Carpenter's Union.

Surviving besides his wife are the following children: George A. of the U. S. army in Italy, Herman of Keokuk, Mrs. Margaret Henson of Carthage; Mrs. Dorothy Spiker of Keokuk, Mrs. Catherine Spiker of Argyle, and Virgil and Jeanette of Argyle. There also are four brothers, Walter of Stronghurst, Ill., Albert and Clifford of Griswold, Iowa and Oscar of Argyle; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Carlson of Keokuk, Mrs. Alvera Beckett of Argyle, Mrs. Emma Beatty of Keokuk and Mrs. Ella Carlson of Griswold; 13 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A son preceded him in death in infancy and two brothers and a sister also preceded him.

The body is at the Greaves Mortuary. The funeral arrangements will be published tomorrow.
