Harvey James
Harvey “Bud” William James, 79, of Wapello, died Sunday, November 16, 2003, at his home. The son of Charles W. and Winnie Crow James, he was born November 10, 1924 in Toolesboro. He attended Wapello High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He married Mary Catherine Minor on June 8, 1946, in Muscatine; she preceded him in death on October 1, 1958.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator out of Local 150 at Rock Island, Illinois.
He enjoyed fishing, his dog, and drives through the countryside.
Survivors include a son, Stephen James and Lois Jackson of Oakville; a daughter, Linda Kay James Kleinschmidt of Nashua; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and his sister, Barbara Wakeland of Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Catherine; a brother, Ronald James; a sister, Helen Patrick, and a long time companion Barbara Holmquist.
Visitation was Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home where the family met with friends in the evening.
The funeral service was Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary N. Pugh officiating. Dan Hall presented the eulogy. Music was provided by Geneva Samuels at the organ and Alana Poage singing “the Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Gordon Hardin, Chris Hardin, Harry Westfall, Jerry Beeding, Joe Tomson and Herb Beeding. Burial followed in the Wapello Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit.
