Helen Ruth Paine, 88, of Letts, Iowa, died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the Letts United Methodist Church. Pastor Marsha Gerot will officiate. Burial will be in the Lettsville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd from 12:00 noon until service time at the church. Arrangements are in the care of the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Helen Ruth Pearson was born February 2, 1924 on the farm east of Ainsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Ruth (Wilson) Pearson. On June 2, 1944 Helen was united in marriage to Richard Franklin Paine in Leadville, Colorado. They began their family in Letts and became the parents of three children: Tana Jennine, Richard Lawson and Stephanie Pearson. Helen received her education at Ainsworth Consolidated School, Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) and Iowa Wesleyan College. She was an elementary teacher at Letts, Hartwick, New London, Stanwood and Louisa-Muscatine schools. Helen was also a member of the Letts United Methodist Church, a past member of T.T.T., the Eastern Star and the Letts Federated Club.

Helen will be dearly missed by her children, Tana Parrish and husband, Monte of Ames, and Stephanie Paine of San Diego, CA; grandson, Dr. David Sosnouski and wife, Jessica of Charleston, SC; daughter-in-law, Nancy Layton and husband, Bruce; son-in-law, Dr. Paul Sosnouski and wife, Jeanne; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and Caitlyn.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard in 1997; son, Richard in 1992; sisters, Barbara Stout; Jane Campbell and Grace Kaufman; brother, Donald Pearson; and brothers-in-law, Denny Paine, Paul Campbell and Clarence Kaufman.
