Our community was greatly shocked this morning to learn of the death of J.P. Walker, which occurred at his home in Grandview township last evening, March 20th, at 10:30 o'clock. Mr. Walker was apparently in the best of health yesterday and ate a hearty supper. He was taken suddenly ill about 9:30 and died an hour later. In his death Louisa county loses one of its most prominent farmers.

Mr. Walker was born in Scotland in 1824 and was 88 years old at the time of his death. He was the eldest child of William and Barbara (Patterson) Walker. His father died in his native land and his mother and her father afterward came to this country in 1827, settling in Trumbull county, Ohio. His boyhood days were spent upon farms in Ohio and Illinois, he receiving his education in the former state. When about sixteen years of age he came to Iowa, settling in Grandview where he continued to reside until his death. He dealt quite largely in stock and was well known and respected throughout the country. We will publish a complete obituary next week.

The funeral services will be held in Grandview Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the M.E. church.
