Mention was made last week of the death of Basil S. Mickey, a brother of
Mrs. I. M. Jamison of this city, and a
former resident of Louisa county, who
passed away at Indianola, Iowa, on
October 9. The funeral services were
held October 11th, with burial at Osceola.
Mr. Mickey was a member of
the Methodist church.

The Indianola Herald of last week
has the following sketch of Mr. Mickey:

"Basil S. Mickey, the son of Oliver
P, and Betsy Davison. Mickey, was
born near Wapello, Louisa County,
Iowa, October 25, 1855, and departed
this life on the morning of October 9,
1921 at 11:00 o'clock, aged sixty-five
years, nine months and sixteen days,
it the Bethel hospital in Indianola,
Iowa. He was united in marriage with
Miss Mallie Robinson, December 24th,
1882, To this union were born three
children, Ethel B. Dougherty, Margaret
G. and Ida M. Mickey, Besides his
wife and daughters and four grandchildren
he leaves to mourn his death,
two sisters and one brother, Mrs. L.
P, Blake of Mediapolis, Mrs. I. M. Jamison
of Morning Sun, Iowa, and
W. O. Mickey of Osceola., Nebraska.
He was a kind and loving father, devoted
to his family. His home always
came first, and his many neighbors
have testified to his readiness at all
times to assist in any way he was
needed. He will be greatly missed.
He gave testimony of his Christian
faith shortly before he died and quoted
from the 23rd Psalm,"
