Arvis Lyle Morgan, Jr., 61, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in his home.

Memorial services for Arvid were Monday, November 2, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Pastor Sharon Phillips officiated the services. Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery with military services provided by the Allen Wright Hanft Post 100. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship was held at the American Legion in Columbus Junction. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Arvid’s name. Online condolences may be left to the Morgan family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com

Arvid Lyle Morgan Jr. was born January 31, 1948 in Columbus Junction, the son of Arvid Lyle and Mary Catherine (Buser) Morgan. Arvid was a 1966 graduate of Columbus High School. He served in the United States Air Force dudring the Vietnam War from 1967 – 1971 serving in the Phiippines and Southeast Asia. On February 11, 1973, Arvid was united in marriage to Regina Porter in Columbus Junction. They were later divorced. Arvis was the owner and operator of Morgan Automotive for over 30 years. He was a member of the Columbus Junction American Legion Allen Wright Hanft Post #100, Louisa County Fair Board, Iowa Tourism for Louisa County, the Columbus Community Club, past member of the Columbus Junction V. F. W. and was a Columbus Day Parade Organizer. He enjoyed working on and restoring classic cars, racing, was an avid fan of Steve McQueen and W.C. Fields, and spending time with his dog, Dumpy.

Arvid will be dearly missed by his daughters, Allison Morgan and her fiance’, Ryan Thornburg and Shannon Wolfe and her husband, Fritz, both of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Treven Thomas, Emma Thornburg, Sophie Thornburg, Logan Wolfe, and Ridge Wolfe; three brothers, Butch Morgan and his wife, Jocey of Washington, Paul Morgan and his wife, Lora of Columbus Junction and David Morgan of Richmond, Missouri; three nephews, Shane Morgan, Ryan Morgan, Billy Morgan, and two nieces, Sue McGregor and Anne Lovell.

Arvid was preceded in death by his parents.
