Leo “Skeeter” Hora, 82 of Lone Tree, formerly of Nichols passed away on Sunday. August 12, 2012 at Carrington Place in Muscatine. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in the Conesville Cemetery with full military rites. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Conesville Community Center. Visitation for Leo will be held on Wednesday, August 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Leo. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Leo John Hora was born on August 17, 1929 in Nichols, Iowa the son of Clarence and Frieda (Mullinnix) Hora. Leo graduated from Conesville High School. Leo proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 – 1953. On May 1, 1954, Leo was united in marriage to Mildred Walker in Muscatine. Leo was a farmer in the Nichols and Conesville area. He was a member of the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414 and the Columbus Junction American Legion. Leo enjoyed dancing, cooking breakfast of hamburgers and steaks and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Leo was well known for his sense of humor.

Leo will be deeply missed by his wife, Mildred of Bennett; his children, Diane Tinkle of Conesville, Susan Morgan and husband, Todd of Iowa City, John Hora and wife, Joyce of Columbus Junction, Judy Kauffman and husband, Greg of Muscatine, Jim Hora and wife, Beth of Nichols and Bobbie Guill and husband, Rich of Bennett; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Hora and wife, Monie of Wilton and three sisters, Shirley Walker and husband, Merle of Riverside, Rita Stalkfleet and husband, Grant of Muscatine and Mary Jones and husband, Ray of Columbus Junction.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank and one sister, Margie “Dutch” Charlier.
