Don L. “Donnie” Howard, Jr. 61, of Letts, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport. Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev. John Brown officiated. Burial was in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship was held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be donated to Fruitland Baptist Church and the Ronald McDonald House. Sympathy notes may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Donald Laurence Howard, Jr. was born on March 22, 1951 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Donald L. Howard, Sr. and Janet (Marshall) Howard. Donald was a 1969 graduate of L-M High School and had attended Iowa State University. He retired from Bandag in 2006 after 36 years. He was a member of the NRA, West Liberty Gun Club and a previous member of the Corvette Club. Donnie had been attending Fruitland Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, restoring his corvette, helping others, spending time with his family and friends and collecting various items.

Donnie will be deeply missed by his siblings, Kristy Kerr of Muscatine, Steve Howard and wife, Laurie of Davenport and Lori Lindner and husband, Doug of Solon; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda (Howard) Blankenship; brothers, David Howard, Roger Howard, James Howard; and his step-father, Herb Howard.
