Margaret Louise Aronhalt, 88, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Larry Fletcher officiating. Friends called after 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home where the family was present from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. Burial was in the Cambrian Cemetery rural Columbus Junction. Memorials may be directed to the Salem Fire and Rescue, Louisa County Historical Society and to the Columbus Junction Public Library in her memory.

Margaret Louise was born on December 23, 1923, on a farm east of Wyman, Iowa in Louisa County, the daughter of John Evans and Margaret Williams Humphreys. She graduated from Wyman Consolidated School built on their family farm, and attended the Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church, rural Columbus Junction. She was united in marriage to Roger N. Aronhalt on September 17, 1955, at the Salem Presbyterian Church in rural Columbus Junction; he preceded her in death on July 4, 2008. After her marriage, they lived on a farm northeast of Winfield for 14 years and belonged to the Winfield United Methodist Church. In 1969, they moved to the Cedar Creek Community southwest of Mt. Pleasant, and joined the Cedar Creek Church. She enjoyed collecting recipes, her piano, sewing, cooking, painting and her four-legged friends.

She is survived by her sons, John N. Aronhalt and James A. Aronhalt, both of Mt. Pleasant, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward L. and Dorothy Fletcher Humphreys, John Leslie and Jessie Oldt Humphreys; a nephew, John Harry Humphreys; and her sister, Catherine.
