MILDRED BAIRD
MORNING SUN — Mildred Baird, 68, of Morning Sun, former Louisa County Recorder, died Wednesday, April 23,1969 at Osteopathic Hospital Davenport.
Born at Mt. Clair, Neb., she was a daughter of Robert and Mabel Strawhacker Baird. She attended Winfield high school and graduated with the class of 1919. She later attended business school in Cedar Rapids.
In 1936 Miss Baird was elected to the position of Louisa County recorder, a position which she held until retiring in May of 1968. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Morning Sun; Women's Missionary Society; Sorosis Club and the Louisa County Art Guild. She was currently serving as president of the Louisa County Republican Women's club.
Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Paul of Griffith, Ind., and Dorothy Hetherington of St. Louis, Mo.; also four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday, April 26 at the First United Presbyterian church. Rev. Frank Greenwood will officiate.
