Anna Beck Rathfon 1840-1910

Mrs. Anna Beck Rathfon was born in Vinango county, Pa., May 15, 1840, and passed away at her home in Grandview Sabbath evening, Sept. 11, 1910, at 6:50 o'clock, after a lingering illness of seven weeks, aged 70 years, 3 months and 8 days.

In 1871 she was united in marriage to Geo. Rathfun, whose death occurred some several years ago. To them were born two sons.

Deceased is survived by her two sons, Leonard, of Nevada, and James, four sisters, Mrs. Henriette Thombs, Mrs. R.F. Cocklin of Grandview, Mrs. L. Chapman of Neb., and Mrs. Caroline Gallop, of Columbus Junction, and two brothers, Frank, of Grandview, and Robert of Wapello.

She was converted and united with the Evangelical church which in her quiet but deeply spiritual way whe loved and helped to support throughout the remainder of her life.

Her long residence here had given her a very wide circle of acquaintances and friends who will greatly miss her who was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those who were in need. Throughout her sickness she was patient and clearly conscious of what the result must be, faced the facts in a way which bespoke not fortitude, but faith. The funeral was held from the Evangelical church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. J.H. Boozer. The remains were interred in the Grandview cemetery.
