FORMER RESIDENT DIES
AT NEW LONDON HOME
Last Rites for Mrs. E. M.
Swan Here, Tuesday.
Mrs. Mary Isabelle Swan, 68, widow
of E. M. Swan, died at her home
in New London, Iowa, Sunday afternoon
December 3, following a month's
sickness. The body was brought to
Morning Sun Tuesday afternoon
and the funeral service conducted
at the Presbyterian church by her
pastor, Rev. J.M. DeBerg of New London.
Relatives and friends from New
London, Burlington, Mediapolis and
this community attended the last
rites.
Mrs. Mary Isabelle Paisley was a
native of Burlington, and was born
Dec. 8, 1870, a daughter of Capt. and
Mrs. John Paisley. She was married
to Erasmus M. Swan of Morning Sun, Feb.
5, 1902; he died in 1937. They lived in the
Morning Sun community many years, moving
to New London some 15 years ago. Surviving are
three daughters and two sons: Clara
LeGrande Swan, at home; J. Albert
Swan, Salem, Ia., Mrs. Elizabeth
I Jones, Mt. Union, Ia., Mrs. Katharine
Coen, San Bernardino, Cal., and Elliott M.
Swan, San Diego, Cal.; a brother, Albert
Paisley, Spokane, Wash., and a sister,
Mrs Clara Overton, Syracuse, Kan.
Mrs. Swan was prominent in
church and club activties during her
lifetime here and at New London.
