Mrs. Jesse Riley died at Muscatine General Hospital, June 13, 1966 at 12:55 p.m., a few hours after she had entered the hospital, altho she has not been well for some years.

Mary Ellen Willet, daughter of Thomas A. and Mary Hall Willet, was born at Cairo, Iowa, April 9, 1895 and was aged 71 years, 2 months and 4 days.

She was united in marriage to Jesse Riley of Crawfordsville at the home of his father, John L. Riley in Columbus City, December 6 1912 and for eight years they engaged in farming near Crawfordsville. They then moved to Columbus City where they lived until a few weeks ago when they moved to Columbus Junction.

Mr. and Mrs. Riley celebrated their Golden Wedding, December 6 1962.

She was a member of the United Brethren Church at Columbus City and attended as long as health permitted. She was a loving wife and mother and was always ready to help someone in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son in infancy, one brother, Frank Willet and one half sister, Mrs. Curtis Spaethe.

She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Mildred DeWitt of Columbus City, Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Ashby of Burlington and Lucy Riley at home; one son, Charles Riley of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two brothers, Glen Willet of Columbus Junction and Harlan Willet of Muscatine; and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Cassabaum of Glenview, Illinois.

Funeral services were held at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Thursday and were conducted by the Rev. Earl Josten. Music was by Miss Donna Belle Hughes and Mrs. Ernest Kilpatrick who sang: "This Is My Father's World".

Casket bearers were Daryl Ashby, James Ashby, Melvin Ashby, Larry Ashby, Jerry DeWitt and Michael Willet.

Final resting place, Columbus City Cemetery.
