MRS H.P. SELSER DIES IN RED OAK

Burlington Hawkeye—Mrs. Henry
P. Selser, 80, who came to Burlington
from Pennsylvania in a covered wagon
when she was 9 years old, died at the
home of her son, R. D. Selser, in
Pilot Grove township, near Red Oak,
Iowa, where last rites were held several
days ago.
Mrs. Selser, whose maiden name
was Edna G. Yohe, was born in Washington
county, Pennsylvania, January
5, 1853, the oldest daughter of Abra-.
ham and Glovina Yohe. She was married
to Henry P. Selser at Morning
Sun, Iowa, November 18, 1869, and
the couple moved to Red Oak in 1883.
Excepting for a short time spent in
California, Mrs. Selser had lived in the
Red Oak vicinity ever since. Her
husband died at Red Oak, April 7,
1931.
She is survived by four children,
three sons and a daughter. They are
R. C. Selser of Stanton, Iowa, Mrs.
Winifred Williams of Villisca, Iowa;
Harvey M. Selser of Wetonka, S. D.;
and R. D. Selser of Red Oak. She
also leaves six grandchildren and two
sisters, Mrs. Harvey Griffin of Long
Beach, Calif., and Mrs. M. W. Hayes
of Burlington; two brothers, Harry
Yohe of Burlington, and P. A. Yohe
of Stuttgart, Ark. Besides her husband,
a daughter, Mrs. Ada Burris, a
sister, a brother and a grandchild preceded
her in death.
Funeral services were held at Red
Oak and burial was in the family lot
at Evergreen cemetery there.
