Ruth F. Vardaman

Ruth F. Vardaman, 88, former resident of Wapello, passed away September 7, 2003, at Sagebrook Health Center in Cedar Park, Texas. She was born February 12, 1915 in Stockport, Iowa. She married Lawrence Vardaman in 1936. They were the parents of two sons, Howard and Phillip.

Ruth attended both Northwestern University and Iowa State University in the 1930s and taught in a rural school. She worked as a bank teller for 18 years before retiring in 1975.

She was a 69-year member of Eastern Star and 51-year member of P.E.O.

She lived in Iowa from her birth until 1983, when she moved to Houston to live with her son, Phillip and his family. She moved to Lago Vista, TX in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956, and son Howard in 1975.

She is survived by her son, Phillip Vardaman and wife Susan of Lago Vista; granddaughters, Paige Vardaman of Round Rock, Texas and Molly Foss of Austin, Texas; daughter-in-law Linda Hall of Bettendorf, and grandchildren Steve Vardaman of Avon, Colorado and Julie Vardaman of Ames.

A memorial open house was held September 14.
