Juana Martinez

Juana “Mama” Enriquez Martinez, 83, of Conesville, died September 14, 2003, at the Lone Tree Care Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Hamilton, Darrel Conaway, Lorenzo Marin Jr., Refugio (Mike) Villagarea, Raul Perez, Javier Martinez, Ignacio Martinez Jr., and Larry Hill Jr.

Honorary bearers will be Juana’s grandchildren.

Following interment at the Conesville Cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the home of Raul and Becky Martinez in Conesville.

Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction, with prayer service at 7 p.m.

Juana E. Enriquez was born April 11, 1920, in Del Rio, Texas, the daughter of Telesforo M. and Mariadel Refugia Vreta Enriquez. On February 2, 1935, in Big Spring, Texas, she was united in marriage to Evaristo R. Martinez.

She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbus Junction. She enjoyed gardening, needle work, singing and telling old stories. But most of all, Juana loved spending time with her family.

She will be deeply missed by two sons, Ramon Martinez and his wife, Berta E., of Conesville and Raul Martinez and his wife, Becky, of Conesville; eight grandchildren, Jesse and Javier Martinez, Melissa Ramirez and her husband Enrique, Raul Martinez Jr., Ignacio Jr., Abel, David and Ubil Martinez; twelve great-grandchildren, Anna, Hector, Damien, Jessica, Robert, Anthony, Derek and Dezaray Martinez and Ricky Jr., Jose I., Julissa, and Diandria Ramirez; daughter-in-law, Natalia Martinez of Conesville; one brother, Fred Enriquez of San Antonio, Texas; and three sisters, Isabel Mendez of San Angelo, Texas, Ramona Carnedo of San Antonio and Amalia Guevara and her husband, Roy, of San Angelo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Evaristo on October 18, 1987; one daughter, Rachel; one son, Ignacio; and two sisters, Antonia Martinez and Luisa Montejano.
