Marjorie M. Heindel, 86, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction. Funeral services for Marjorie will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Lay Commissioned Pastor Ramona Wink will officiate. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9th from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Columbus City United Methodist Church, the Louisa County Historical Society and the Washington County Hospice in Marjorie’s name. Marjorie Mae Rockafellow was born May 2, 1925 in Fruitland, the daughter of John D. and Stella M. (Ping) Rockafellow. Marjorie graduated from Wapello High School in 1942 and from the Iowa State Teachers College in 1944. She then taught 1st Grade in Wellman, Reinbeck and Roosevelt Elementary in Iowa City. On July 7, 1952 Marjorie was united in marriage to Paul M. Heindel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. For many years she clerked household and farm sales with her husband in Southeast Iowa and substitute taught in Columbus Schools. She was also a homemaker and owner/operator of the Wapello Livestock Sale Barn from 1966-2009. She was a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Louisa County Historical Society. She was a member of the Peanuts Card Club for the past 40 years and a volunteer at the Columbus Elementary School. Marjorie was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Marjorie will be dearly missed by her children, John “Rob” Heindel of Albia, Mary Beth Carson and husband, Steven of Iowa City and Timothy Heindel and wife, Julie of Columbus Junction; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, John D. Rockafellow and wife, Margaret of Sun City West, Arizona; sister, Jennie M. Small of Wapello; and several nieces and one nephew.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul in 1981; brother, Roger Rockafellow; and nephew, Burton Small.
