Jose Guadalupe Moreno, 70, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Mass of the Resurrection was at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbus Junction. Burial was held at a later date. Casket bearers were Jose Moreno Jr., Alexander Prada, Miguel Benitez, Joseph Moreno, Miguel Benitez, Jr., Jesus Gomez, Danny Zepeda, and Ruben Zuniga. Visitation was held Friday, October 14, from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 15, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Jose’s name. Online condolences may be left to Jose’s family and friends at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Jose Moreno was born on December 12, 1940, in Sinaloa, Mexico, the son of Jesus and Justina (Ibarra) Moreno. On August 18, 1964, Jose was united in marriage to Juana Castro in Mexico. Jose worked for I.B.P. and was the owner of Fandango’s Erika in Columbus Junction. He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbus Junction and enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, helping people and giving advice, cooking, but most of all, Jose dearly loved to spend time with his
family. .

Jose will be dearly missed by his wife, Juana C. Moreno of Columbus Junction; his children, Jose Moreno, Jr., and his wife, Dafne of Muscatine, Arely Moreno and her husband, Sergio Perez of California, Brenda Moreno-Prada and her husband, Alexander of Washington, Erika Moreno-Benitez and her husband, Miguel of Columbus Junction and Sandra Moreno of Columbus Junction; grandchildren, Daphne Moreno, Sergio Perez, Jr., Jorge Guadalupe Perez, Joseph A. Moreno, Ayleen Prada, Miguelito A. Benitez, Jr., and Shariz Benitez; and one sister, Teresa Moreno and her husband, Ramon of California.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents seven brothers and sisters.
