Mrs. R. Pogemiller Passes Away
Death comes Sunday at Burlington

Mrs. Raymond Pogemiller, 41, well known farm women of the Morning Sun community, died at the Burlington hospital Sunday following a long period of declining health. About four years ago Mrs. Pogemiller was placed under treatment for heart trouble and since that time she has not enjoyed good health although she was not critically ill until the past few weeks. She was taken to the University Hospital at Iowa City for treatment and later was transferred to the Burlington Hospital.

Mrs. Pogemiller, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bazel of this place, lived her entire life in and near Morning Sun.

Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian church with the pastor, Rev. O.L. Byrne in charge. Two hymns "Have Thine Own Way" and "Abide With Me" were sung by Miss Eleanor Burge accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Hazel Mecklenburg. Pallbearers were Sidney Swanson, E.S. Simpson, L.L. Nicholson, Odas Thomas, Doyle Bozman, and W.D. Allen. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery.

The following obituary was read as a part of the funeral service.

Gladys, daughter of Elmer E. and Christian Walker Bazel, was born near Morning Sun, Iowa, March 15, 1904 and spent her entire life in this community. She was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School with the class of 1923.

On August 11, 1926, she was happily united in marriage to Raymond Pogemiller. To them were born two sons, Normal and LeRoy.

Early in life she united with the Marsh Methodist church, later she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church of Morning Sun. She was faithful and active in the work of the church. For several years she was church organist and she taught a Sabbath School class as long as her health permitted.

She has been in declining health the past four years. Several times she was confined in the hospital for treatment of a heart ailment. She spent the past month in Univeristy Hospital at Iowa City and Burlington Hospital, Burlington.

Although all that was known in medical skill, faithful nursing and loving care was done for her recovery, her strength continued to decline. While she suffered much, she was ever so patient and cheerful. She departed this life Sabbath morning, Sep 2, 1945, having lived to the age of 41 yeares, 5 months and 17 days.

Besides her husband and two sons, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Christiania Bazel of Morning Sun, four sisters, Mrs. V.L. Blank, New London, Iowa, Ida Bazel, MLrs. F.G. Pontzius and Mrs. Robert Dickson of Morning Sun; and one brother, Wyman Bazel of Morning Sun.

Her father, one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

She was a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and by her kind and useful life she made many friends. Her favorite Bible verse was Matt. 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven."
