Sam Finley, 45, of rural Wapello, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at his home. Born June 5, 1966, in Burlington, he was the son of Delbert and Betty Marlette Finley. Mr. Finley worked as a farmhand with his brother, John, and other farmers. He attended school in Wapello and earned a GED. He was a collector, including soda bottles. He enjoyed woodworking and making things for nieces and nephews.

Survivors include four brothers, Delbert Finley, Jr., William Finley and John Finley, all of Wapello, and Harry Finley of Columbus Junction; one sister, Susan Yakle of Wapello; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dudgeon-McCully Funeral Home in Wapello, where family will receive friends. The graveside funeral for Mr. Finley will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Edwards Cemetery, rural Oakville, with the Rev. Dan Doolin officiating. A memorial has been established.
