Bobby Teel

BURLINGTON, Iowa - Bobby Eugene Teel, 75, Burlington, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at his home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the Lunning Chapel, Burlington. The Rev. Trevor Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts Nos. 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post No. 52 and the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League.

Visitation is after 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, with family present from 9:30 a.m. until service time, at the chapel. Memorials have been established for the Salvation Army and Great River Hospice.

Mr. Teel was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Macomb, Ill., the son of Herschel "Jack" and Lenora (Kepler) Teel. He married Alice Ann Bretz July, 3, 1954.

He attended school in Macomb.

He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy Seabees as a heavy equipment operator and served two tours in Vietnam, retiring Jan. 31, 1968. He then worked for Raid Quarries and Cessford Construction, Burlington, for 22 years combined, retiring in August 1990.

He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and was a die hard Cubs fan since 1938. He also enjoyed outdoor activities with his sons and grandsons.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW and NRA.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dennis E. and Dana A., both of Wapello, and Steven R. of Fort Madison; a daughter, Debra A. Sullivan of Burlington; three brothers, Kenneth of Springfield, Ill., Donald of Sciota, Ill., and Michael of Oneida, Ill.; a sister, Patricia Burton of Tennessee, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
