COZAD, Margaret Jane

HEAD OF FAMILY OF 145 CALLED

Mrs. Margaret Cozad, 93, Dies At Home Here-Funeral Services to be Friday.

Mrs. Margaret Jane Cozad, 93, who is survived by 145 descendants, died at her home, 413 West Fourth street, at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, after an illness with complications resulting from advanced age. Mrs. Cozad had made Muscatine her home for the past 15 years.

She was born in Whiteside County, Ill., July 28, 1836, the daughter of Sidney Shaw and Minnie Springer Shaw. She was married to Job Cozad in Henry county, Ill., in 1885. He died about 40 years ago. She was a member of the Wrayville, Ill., Methodist Episcopal church.

Surviving are three sons, John of Sheeny, Wash., Miles of Muscatine and William of Wapello; five daughters, Mary Taylor, Charity Lewis and Lillie Coulter, all of Muscatine; Minnie Beckett of Davenport and Sarah Coulter of Fairport; 39 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Three children preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon by the Rev. Benjamin F. Schwartz, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church. Burial will be in the Reynolds cemetery in Illinois.
