CALL, James A.

MUSCATINE - James A. Call, 66, 914 Cypress St., died early today, Monday, Nov. 27, 1995, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Arthur Carranza of Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church will officiate, Pallbearers will be Donald Ash, Leonard Longhurst, Chuck Howard, Marvin Franklin, Robert Call and James Wedekind. Honorary pallbearers John Shetler, Richard Ludman, Lyle Chamberlin and Dr. William Roudybush. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where a memorial has been established.

Mr. Call was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Louisa County, a son of George and Paulina Craig Call. He married Ruth Mary Estabrook on June 27, 1970 in Galesburg, ILL. He was a member of the church and the Moose and Eagle lodges.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a semitrailer truck tractor driver for 40 years, and later was employed at Mid-City Car Wash.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one son, Arthur Dewayne Call of Iowa City; two daughters , Mrs. Edward "Butch" (Gail Jean) Seydel of Iowa City, and Mrs. Dennis (Sara) Kauffman of Wapello; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; his mother, Paulina Call of Iowa City; three brothers, Daniel Call and his wife, Deloris of Columbus City, Pearl Call of Davenport, and William Call of Missouri; and five sisters, Mrs. Daniel (Helen) Ford and Mrs. Robert (Mary) Honea, both of Muscatine, Mrs. Harry (LeVada) Osborn of Altoona, Leah DeWitt of Iowa City, and Mrs. Donald (Sharon) Allen of Columbus Junction.

He was preceded in death by his father, and one son, James, in infancy.
