Helen E. Howell, 93, of Columbus Junction, died August 21, 2003 at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction.

Born February 28, 1910, in Columbus City, she was the daughter of Arthur R. and Anna J. Allen Greene. She married Donald F. Howell on October 19, 1935, in Rock Island, Ill. She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing in her spare time and spending time with her family.

Survivors include on son, Craig Howell and his wife Russ, of Columbus Junction; two grandchildren, Christopher Howell and wife Laurie of Chandler, Ariz., and Andrew Howell of Rock Island; and one great grandchild, Emilyann Howell of Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, two brothers, and one sister.

The funeral service for Mrs. Howell was at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction with the Rev. Linda Baldwin officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Howell, Jim Howell, Willard Howell, Phil Chalupa, Ryan Hartsock and Bob Thompson. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.
