Lorraine Colbert

Lorraine M. Colbert, 86, of Columbus Junction, died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at the Washington County Hospital.

Lorraine Maxine Carlisle was born September 22, 1916, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Dean and Mary Skipton Carlisle. She married Oren Albert Colbert on February 15, 1951, in Columbus Junction. She was a homemaker and loved walking, babysitting, and working with houseplants. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center in Columbus Junction.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Ella Tilton of Columbus Junction; two grandchildren, Christina Kelly of Columbus Junction and Chad Wagg of Washington; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Gabe Kelly and Mason Wagg; a sister, Dorothy Griffin of Columbus Junction; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter in infancy, Janet DeLane Colson.

The funeral service was Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction, Rev. Cathy Whitlatch officiated. Pallbearers were Dave Griffin, Dan Griffin, Jerry Griffin, Randy M. Griffin and Kevin Wilson. Immediately following the service there was a luncheon for family and friends at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Following the luncheon, burial was in the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 4-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established at the funeral home.
