Shirley Dickinson, 79, of Muscatine and formerly of Letts, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Carrington Place.

Funeral Services were at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Richard Eis officiated the service. Casket bearers were Kenneth Leach, Richard Leach, Darin Leach, Orville Randolph, Matt Bettis, Tom Carter, and Ted Kemp. Burial took place in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Letts United Methodist Church or the Muscatine Humane Society. Online condolences for the Dickinson family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Shirley was born on July 6, 1932, in Muscatine, the daughter of Dwight P. and Elma A. Soltwedel Leach. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School, class of 1950.

She married Duane I. Dickinson on September 7, 1958, in New Era. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2009.

She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, and postal clerk.

She was a member of the Letts United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, embroidery, writing to pen pals, and scrapbooking.

Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Mary Dickinson of Muscatine; three brothers, Kenneth Leach and wife, Sandra, of Wilton, Marvin Leach of Chicago, Illinois; and Richard Leach and wife, Carolyn, of Muscatine; several nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Margie Bailey of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Karen Dickinson in infancy; and one sister in infancy.
