David R Faler

David R. Faler, 74, of Columbus Junction, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Faye Fedlam of the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church officiated. Burial was in the Indian Creek Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship was held at the Columbus Junction Presbyterian Church. Visitation was held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the funeral home from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. David Ralph Faler was born on May 20, 1937 at the family home in Muscatine County to Ralph E. and Viola M. (Wedekind) Faler. On August 19, 1958, David was united in marriage to Janice E. Long in Columbus Junction. David had worked several years for Rock Island Railroad before he was employed by DuBois Chemical for 4 years. DuBois was later contracted to I.B.P., where he remained for another 9 years. He was a member of the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church. David was an avid reader especially enjoying, westerns, Zane Gray and Louis L’Amour.

David will be dearly missed by his wife, Janice of Columbus Junction; daughters, Cynthia Faler of Columbus Junction and Julianne Patterson and husband, Malcom of Washington; sons, Matthew Faler and companion, Edwina of Louisiana and Nathan Faler and wife, Julie of Columbus Junction; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Faler and wife, Pat of Chillicothe, Iowa; and sister, Mary Robeson and husband, Don of Quincy, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael; two great-granddaughters and one brother, Ernest Faler.
