Darlene B. Johnson, age 79 of Wapello died on Saturday 23, 2011 at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab in Wapello, Iowa.

She was born on August 16, 1931 in rural Cotter, Iowa. She was the daughter of Everett and Josephine Griffith Stapp. She married Richard Johnson on November 17, 1950.
Mrs. Johnson graduated from Cotter High School in the class of 1950. She was a wonderful wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Richard, one son Greg and his wife Ann, and one daughter, Leanne Black, all of Wapello; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Per her wishes her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00 AM at the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Wapello. The family will meet with friends 1 hour prior to the service.

A memorial has been established for the Great River Hospice.
