Sarah Catherine Bryant was born in Louisa County, Iowa April 7, 1856, her parents having come to Louisa County, Iowa, from Ohio about four or five years previous to her birth.

She grew to womanhood in Louisa County and at the age of twenty she was married to Mr. Van Hart Fisher in Wapello, May 24, 1876. There were born to them one daughter and four sons, Mrs. L.C. Murphie, of Wapello; Chas., of New Boston, Ill.; Edwin, Ray and Alva, of Wapello. Her husband departed this life several years ago, and as a widow she has mad her home for herself and family in Wapello where she passed away. Preceding her in death were also her parents, one brother, Silas Bryant, and one sister, Elizabeth Moore. Remaining to mourn her loss, besides her children, are two brothers, William Bryant, of Morning Sun, and Ethan Bryant, of Golf, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Myers, of Fairburg, Nebraska.

She was a hard working, devoted mother, living for her children. About a year previous to her death, she became a follower of Christ and united with the Christian church in this city.

Her last illness was of but short duration. She passed away with her loved ones about her at 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1911, aged 54 years, 9 months and 4 days.

The funeral services were held from the home last Friday morning conducted by the Rev. J.E. Newsom, pastor of the M.E. Church. Interment in the Mallory cemetery near Toolsboro.
