OLDEST MAN IN LOUISA COUNTY PASSED AWAY

ZIDA KREMER, AGED RESIDENT SUCCUMBS.

Survived by Six Daughters – Funeral To Be Held Saturday – Was Prominent Methodist.

Wapello, Ia., Nov. 20. – (Special) – Zida Kremer, probably the oldest resident of Louisa county and for a number of years the oldest voter, and despite his advanced years an active and public spirited citizen passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. O. Woodruff, at 10 o’clock last evening.
Mr. Kremer was born in Luzern county, near Wilksbarre, Pa., April 15, 1819. His ten brothers and sisters all preceded him in death. He was married to Miss Isabel Fairchild of Pennsylvania. Of their nine children, six daughters survive to mourn their father’s death. These are Mrs. C. E. Lauder, of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. C. P. Woodruff, of Kansas City; Mrs. M. U. Ady, of Iowa City; Mrs. E. O. Woodruff, of Wapello; Mrs. V. A. Peters, of Butler, Mo.; and Mrs. J. M. Woodruff, of Monroe county.
Mr. Kremer and his family came to Louisa county in 1869. They located on a farm, near Long Creek, near this place. In 1834 he united with the Methodist Episcopal church and throughout the remainder of his life was an ardent and faithful church member. Up until the few months of his life he was a regular attendant at church services.
Mr. Kremer retained his faculties despite his advanced age and was unusually active for one of his years.
The funeral services will be held at the Methodist Episcopal church Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment will be made in the Long Creek cemetery.
About a year ago Mr. Kremer was the subject of an extended article appearing in the Methodist Advocate in which he was declared to be the oldest reader of that newspaper.
