KAUFFMAN RITES TO BE HELD FROM COLUMBUS CITY

Columbus Junction, Ia., Dec. 3 - The body of
Burton Kauffman of Joy, Ill., who died Monday
evening from burns he received from an explosion
while starting a fire that day at a home near
Aledo, will be brought here for burial.

Burton, who was born here and is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. E. C. Kauffman, former well known
residents here, was employed on a farm near
Aledo. The people he was working for were
not at home when the accident happened. He
was preparing a lunch and mistook the gasoline
for kerosene when starting the fire. He
attempted to put out the fire with a rug.
Failing to do this and while ablaze ran to a
neighbor's home. From there he was taken to
the hospital at Aledo for treatment of his
burns. He died seven hours later.

Burton Kuffman was born on a farm near Columbus
Juction, Feb. 12, 1908, and moved with his
parents to Joy about 12 years ago.

Besides his parents he is survived by a sister,
Mrs. Dorothy Craiger of Alameda, Calif., and
two brothers, Milton, of Detroit, Mich., and
Arthur at home.

Short funeral services will be held at the home
at Joy at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon and
the body will be brought here Thursday evening
and taken to the home of his grandmother, Mrs.
A. H. Parsons where the funeral services will
be held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon.
Burial will be made in the Columbus City cemetery.
