Allene Smith

Allene A. Smith, 72, of Columbus Junction, Iowa died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Rev. Cathy Whitlatch officiated. A memorial has been established at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.

She was born January 8, 1931 in Wapello, Iowa to Archie and Kathryn Louise (Tustison) Miller. She married Arnold Lee Smith on May 28, 1949 in Wapello, Iowa. She was a homemaker and farmwife. She was employed by the local telephone company until retirement. She enjoyed traveling, needleworking, antiquing, and collecting hens and rooster salt and pepper shakers and carousel horses.

She is survived by 4 children, Bruce Smith and his wife, Oliva of West Liberty, Brian Smith and his wife, Barbara of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Carol Buck of Kirksville, Iowa, and Brenda Peter and her husband, Terry of Coralville, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; brother, Roy (Bud) Miller of Muscatine and half brother, Keith Tustison of Garden Grove, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold, step father, John Bailey, and sister, Connie White.
