Margie Tiedemann

Margie H. Tiedemann, 102, formerly of 1305 Cedar St., Muscatine, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at the Muscatine Care Center.

Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Musserville United Methodist Church, the Rev. Gerry Kahler officiating. Diana Wiig provided organ music and accompanied Tom Hoopes, vocalist.

Pallbearers were Mike Kuebler, George Holzhauer, Brian Kuebler, Erik Kuebler, David Holzhauer, and Kevin Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Hohenadel, Jim Swank, John Briggs, Virgil Wheeler, and Don Watson.

Burial was at the Memorial Park Cemetery

Visitation was Friday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. A memorial fund was established for the benefit of Musserville United Methodist Church or the Muscatine Care Center.

Mrs. Tiedemann was born January 26, 1901, in Muscatine, the daughter of Phoennie Rainbow and Frank Hubbard. She married John Tiedemann, February 16, 1921, in Muscatine.

She was a lifelong member of Musserville United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday school for 62 years and served as president of the C.O.C. Sunday school class of which she was a member for more than 65 years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women and the Women’s Christian Temperance League for more than 65 years. She also volunteered at Muscatine General Hospital.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Holzhauer of Muscatine, Jackie Lewis of Wapello, and Vi Kuebler and husband Robert of Ormond Beach, Florida; six grandchildren, George Holzhauer of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Diana Wiig of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Tamara Diveney and Mike Kuebler, both of Des Moines, Kandace Herzog of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Brian Kuebler of Minneapolis, Minnesota; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Hubbard of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons-in-law, George Holzhauer, Dwain Whitmer and Maurice “Bud” Lewis; a great-grandson, Dwain Whitmer; a great-granddaughter, Baby Girl Kuebler; three brothers, Frank Hubbard, Orval Hubbard and Harold Hubbard; and a sister, Flossie Smith.
