Juanita Lea Eversmeyer, age 70, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Wapello, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at her home. The daughter of Clyde and Mabel Pauline Becky Eubanks, she was born on September 29, 1940 at Wapello. Her father died as she was a young child and her mother married Marion Merrick. She married Leonard Eversmeyer on May 7, 1965 at Oakville. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1977.

Juanita attended schools in Wapello and Charlotte and graduated from Nevada High School in 1959. She was a homemaker and dietitian having worked at various jobs and later for the Louisa County Care Facility and retiring from Grimm Bros. Plastics in Wapello. She had just completed training to be a Hospice Volunteer.

She had been a former O.E.S. member and had been an active member and board member of the Wapello Youth League having run the concession stand. She enjoyed cooking, her grandkids, collecting cookbooks, attending Old Threshers concerts, Wapello sports activities, Iowa Hawkeyes, and all sports.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Joellen & John Schantz of Wapello; her son, Danny & Addie Eversmeyer of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren, Megan, Kori, Britney, Bailey, Summer, Aidan, and Avery; her sister, Bonnie & Lee Dotson of Wapello; and her brother, Roy & Ruth Eubanks of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father; her husband, Leonard; and a grandson, Matthew.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.

The funeral ceremony for Juanita Eversmeyer will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery followed by a lunch gathering at the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church in Wapello.

A memorial fund in lieu of flowers will benefit the Wapello Youth League and the Great River Hospice.
