Helen l. Wagner, 90, of Letts, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

Funeral services were Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Pastor Scott Smith, Associate Pastor for the SE Louisa County United Methodist Churches officiated. Burial was in the Cedar Bethel Cemetery. There was no visitation.

A memorial was established at the funeral home in Helen’s name.

Helen Lucille Shimak was born April 22, 1920 in Louisa County, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Margaret (Morgan) Shimak. In 1944 Helen was united in marriage to Harold L. Wagner in Columbus Junction.

She was a homemaker and attended the Methodist Church of Fredonia. Helen enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, raising chickens, and especially she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending family gathering.

Helen will be dearly missed by her children, Shirley McDonald and her husband, Steven of Central City, Ronald Wagner of Letts and Don Wagner and his wife, Connie, of Wapello; four grandchildren, Heidi McDonald of Cedar Rapids, Brian McDonald of Central City, Ron Wagner Jr., and his wife Tricia of Letts, and Mark Wagner and his wife, Kortney of Wapello; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Long of Crawfordsville, Emma Gathman and her husband, Bob of Davenport and Louise Harter of Burlington.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; his sister, Bessie Ruess; and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Wagner.
