Dorothy Lea Taylor, 90, of Wapello, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The daughter of Ed and Mary Jane (Mollie) Jones Eubanks, she was born on November 6, 1920 in rural Des Moines County, Iowa. She grew up on a small family farm southeast of Newport, attended school in Mediapolis, graduated in 1938. She married Robert ‘Bob’ Taylor. They made their home in Elmwood, Illinois until March of 1951 when they moved to Wapello.

Dorothy retired in 1983 after having served as the Louisa Clerk of District Court for 23 years.

She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello and of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Wapello.

Survivors include a son, Dick Taylor and wife Opal of Wapello; a daughter, Teri Clark and husband Bruce of Apple Valley, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Susan, Jeff, Doug, Malia and Brandon; nine great-grandchildren, Emily and Lydia, Jordan and Cassidy, Kathryn and Rosalie, Dale, Madison and Sydney; a sister, Hazel ‘Sally’ Garrison of Wapello; and a brother and sister-in-law; Forrest and Mrylene Eubanks of Crawfordsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, who died in 1998; her parents; two sisters, Mary Hussel and Fay Hubert, two brothers, Russell and Clyde Eubanks; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Taylor.

The funeral service for Dorothy Taylor was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiated. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery.

A luncheon followed in the United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

Visitation was Monday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home where the family was present in the evening.

A Memory Fund was established for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit and the United Methodist Church.
