Gail D. Dieckman, 55, Columbus Junction, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Lutheran Homes after a courageous battle against cancer.

The Rev. Collette Gould of the Island United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Casketbearers will be Ron Lawrence, Keith Lawrence, Jeff Hackett, John Griffith, Steve Schneider, and Chris Schneider.

Memorials may be left to the family in care of William Dieckman.

Mrs. Dieckman was born May 16, 1955, in Iowa City, the daughter of Don and Arlene Petersen Buckman. She married William Dieckman on April 9, 1977, in Conesville.

She was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at Louisa-Muscatine Elementary School.

She was of Methodist faith and was a member of the WaHeLo Garden Club. She was proud to be a Master Gardener.

She enjoyed spending time in her garden, sewing, and crocheting and loved being with her husband, children and grandson.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, William Dieckman of Columbus Junction; a son, John Dieckman of Atalissa; a daughter, Lizabeth Maurer and husband, Adam of Wilton; a grandson, Gage Maurer of Wilton; her mother, Arlene Buckman of Conesville; two brothers, Mark Buckman and Brian Buckman, both of Conesville; and a sister, Teri Linton and husband, Craig of Skiatook, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her father.
