John Spitznogle died last Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dwight Tustison, of Jefferson township. On Monday of the week previous he suffered a stroke of paralysis at the noon hour. He lost consciousness in the afternoon and lingered one week before death relieved him.

Deceased was born in Brownsville, Boone county, Ind., September 28, 1840, and died December 31, 1906, aged 66 years, 3 months and three days. He was the son of George and Nancy Spitznogle and came with his parents to Mercer county, Ill. He came to Louisa county in the year 1864 and has lived here ever since. On December 28, 1865, he was married to Miss Sarah Shaw of Toolesboro.

Mrs. Spitznogle died October 2, 1882. Five children were born to this union, three boys and two girls: Mrs. Media Shaffer, Mrs. Carrie Graves and Mrs. Abbie Tustison, George, who died in 1892 at the age of 17 years, and John, who died in infan-cy. Mr. Spitznogle leaves besides his children, two brothers and four sisters. He was a man loved and respected by all who knew him.

The funeral services were held New Years' afternoon at home, conducted by the Rev. A. L. Jordon, of Oakville, preached from the text Matt. 28:20. Interment was made at Parsons cemetery.
