Betty Arlene Finley, 81, of Rural Wapello died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born June 23, 1929, in Oakville, she was the daughter of Ira and Flora Peterson Marlette. On July 20, 1950, she married Delbert "Deb" Finley in Morning Sun. He died Oct. 22, 2002.

Mrs. Finley was a homemaker. She worked at the Button Factory in Wapello, at Heinz in Muscatine,at Poage Nursing Home in Wapello and helped her husband as a cemetery caretaker and with other mowing. She enjoyed drawing.

Survivors include five sons, Delbert Finley, William Finley, John Finley, Sam Finley, all of Wapello; and Harry Finley of Columbus Junction; one daughter, Susan Yakle of Wapello; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter and her parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dudgeon-McCully Funeral Home in Wapello, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Finley will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Doolin officiating. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery in Oakville. A memorial has been established.
