Steven L. Langstaff, 67, of Davenport, Iowa, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in Davenport. A memorial gathering of Steven’s family and friends was held from 3 PM until 7 PM Friday, February 6th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge, Davenport. Graveside services were at Columbus City Cemetery at 10:00 AM Saturday, with a luncheon to follow from 10:30 until 2:00 P.M. at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. A memorial fund in Steven’s name has been established.

Steven was born in 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa to Warren and Jean Langstaff. He married Charlotte Wolford on February 23, 1974 in Columbus Junction, Iowa. A 1959 graduate of Columbus Junction High School, he worked for Rath Packing in Columbus Junction for 20 years until its closing. In 1995, he and his family moved to Davenport. He then worked in Building Supply Sales until his retirement in 2008. Following his retirement, and at the time of his death, he worked at Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; son, Troy Wilken of Davenport; daughter, Cindy (David) Bixby of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; granddaughter, Marissa Bixby; and brothers, Dean (Molly) Langstaff of Iowa City, and Gene (Sue) Langstaff of Wapello, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father (1996), his mother (2005) and an infant grandson, Dalton Bixby (May 1999). He loved his grandchildren more than life itself.
