Carla Ann Hargrafen, 59, of Letts, Iowa died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Unity Hospital in Muscatine, Iowa.

A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at St. Mathias Church with the Reverend Joseph Sia officiating. Casket bearers were Phil Mincks, Tim Mincks, Bill Hargrafen and Richard Byrne. Burial was in the Ardon Cemetery. Visitation and a Rosary Prayer Service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.

Carla was born on July 1, 1950 in Muscatine, the daughter of Max Merritt and Annabelle Lee Ratell Jarvis. She married Roger J. Hargrafen on June 17, 2000 in Muscatine, Iowa.

She enjoyed working as a nurse for the last ten years, with her current position being a nurse at Unity Clinic. She was a member of St. Mathias Church. She was a loving wife and mother, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Roger J. Hargrafen of Letts, Iowa; one son, Henry Hoopes and wife, Beth of Van Horne, Iowa; one daughter, Heidi Hoopes and fiancé, Jim Barnes, of Muscatine, Iowa; five grandchildren, Annabelle and John Nienhaus; and Paul, William, and Edward Hoopes; her mother, Annabelle Jarvis of Grandview, Iowa; one brother, Gayle Jarvis of Mason, Tennessee; and two sisters, Shelley Jarvis and Claudia Jarvis, both of Muscatine, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father.
