Nancy H. (Browning) Conaway, 68, of Dunnellon, Florida, formerly of Conesville, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Nancy were at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Rev. Cindy Breed officiated the services. Burial was in the Conesville Cemetery at a later date. Casketbearers were Robbie Conaway, Samuel Conaway, Craig Kelley, Shawn Kelley, Dustin Smith, Nathan Alberhasky, Matthew Conaway, Benjamin Sands, Mitchell Billups and Joshua Gaeta. Honorary Casketbearers were Marcelena Conaway, Anna Conaway, Grace Conaway, Amanda Kelley, Tiffany Smith, Whitney Alberhasky, Danielle Gaeta, Jennifer Sands, Alisha Troyer and Alexandria Troyer. Following the funeral service, a gathering was held at the Riverside V.F.W. Visitation for Nancy was on Thursday from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Nancy. Sympathy notes may be left for the Conaway family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Nancy Helen Browning was born September 9, 1940 in Moline, Illinois the daughter of Emmel and Hilda (Kane) Browning. Nancy was united in marriage to Darrel Conaway in February of 1958 and later divorced. Nancy then moved to Florida with her partner, Russell Perrin. Nancy worked for the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Columbus Junction for 20 years and then was a C.N.A. in Florida for 12 years. Nancy enjoyed crocheting and anything with being outdoors, but most of all she dearly loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren who fondly called her “Nini”.

Nancy will be deeply missed by Russell Perrin of Dunnellon, Florida; her children, Kimmy Conaway of Iowa City, Jan Kelley and her husband, Dan of Grandview, Charlotte Block and her husband, Scot of Homestead, D.J. Conaway and his wife, Susan of Letts, Karen Sands and her special friend, Mike Rees of Crawfordville and Missy Troyer and her husband, John of Lone Tree; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat Snyder of Muscatine, Ted Browning of Jefferson and Larry Browning of Muscatine.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Lindsey Elizabeth Smith and brother-in-law, Pete Snyder.
