Donald D. Buster, age 88, formerly of Ainsworth, Iowa, died Saturday afternoon, January 3, 2009, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center. The son of Glen K. ‘Jake’ and Irma Clara Schafer Buster, he was born on February 15, 1920 at Toolesboro, Iowa. He married Audrey Maxine Luckenbach on August 6, 1938 at Muscatine. She preceded him in death on May 1, 1990.

Donald farmed all his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his family, playing cards, and dancing. In earlier years he had been a member of the Moose Lodge at Muscatine.

Survivors include a daughter, Erma Maine of Columbus Junction; three sons, Donald and Yvonne Buster, Jr. of Washington, Willard and Eva Buster of Ainsworth, and Butch and Pinky Buster of Wapello; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry and Barb Buster of Muscatine and George and Carolyn Buster of Winfield; and five sisters, Francis and Ed Pulliam of Bernie, Missouri, Allene Forbes, Kay Schillig, and Iva Marie Buster all of Iowa City, and Gla Rolig of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey; a son, Dennis; a grandson, Donald; twin granddaughters, Cindy Sue and Lindy Lou Maine; a brother, Gene; and two sisters, Ruth and Glenna.

Friends called after 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family met with friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the Grandview Cemetery by Steve Chaney.
