Shelby Jo Fankhauser, 54, of Columbus City died Thursday July 1, 2010 at her home after a lengthy illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, July 5th at the home of Shirley Cupps, 2304 Columbus Street, Columbus City, Iowa. The family will receive friends following the service. A general memorial has been established.

Shelby was born on March 13, 1956 in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of John and Bonnie (Murry) Wheeler. She attended school in Columbus Junction. She was a life partner with Jerry Cupps. She grew up in Conesville and lived most of her life in Iowa City and Conesville and later in Columbus City, Iowa. She worked at IAC formerly Sheller Globe in Iowa City. Shelby enjoyed her family and taking care of her grandchildren.

Shelby is survived by her daughter Jennifer Lane and husband Jeremy of Muscatine, Iowa; daughter Christy Fankhauser and friend Erik Salek of Muscatine, Iowa; daughter Cameron Conaway of Conesville, Iowa; daughter Andi Cupps of Columbus City, Iowa; son Joshua Fankhauser and friend Rose Malone of Muscatine, Iowa; son Jesus Prosper and friend Danielle Wellington of Columbus City, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, five step grandchildren; life partner Jerry Cupps of Columbus City, Iowa; mother Bonnie Wheeler of Columbus Junction, Iowa; brother David Wheeler and wife Mary of Casper, Wyoming; brother Edward Wheeler and wife Linda of Rockwell City, Iowa; sister Lorris Mathias and husband Charles of Muscatine, Iowa; sister Shayla Swailes and husband Henry of Columbus Junction, Iowa; brother Murry Wheeler of Columbus Junction, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial has been established at the Iowa City Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her father John Wheeler, grandson Clinton Fankhauser and a sister-in-law- Jackie Cupps.
