Rev. Thomas Eugene Hotle, 76 of Storm Lake, Iowa, previously of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010 at a Sioux City hospital.

A Memorial Service was held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Storm Lake United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa with Rev. Jerry Oakland officiating. Visitation with the family was Friday evening, April 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., also at SLUMC.

Tom was born March 23, 1934 to Thomas Gilbert and Olive (Pfeiffer) Hotle in Washington, Iowa. He graduated from high school in 1951 from Columbus Junction, Iowa. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Gabriel on January 31, 1953. He then served two years in the Army during the Korean War. Tom graduated in 1963 from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and from Garrett Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity Degree in 1967. Tom served in many parishes, including; Mt. Pleasant, Crawfordsville, Muscatine, Panora, Odebolt, Corydon, and Crescent Park United Methodist Church, retiring in Sioux City, Iowa.

Tom loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to go canoeing and camping. He served with the Sac County Ambulance squad as an EMT for ten years.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred, two sons: Thomas (Pam) Hotle of Chippewa Falls, WI and William (Vivian) Hotle of Apex, NC, three daughters: Valerie Hotle of Storm Lake, IA, Melanie (Tom) Eckert of Dakota City, NE, and Stephanie (Doug) Krauth of Storm Lake, IA, one sister, Joan Gilpin of Iowa City, IA, and 13 grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, and sister, Jean Liebendorfer.

Arrangements were under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa.
