Brenda K. Eckert, 52, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, formerly of Muscatine, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The family will greet friends at visitation on Friday, July 2nd, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Faith Christian Outreach Church, 1302 East Washington Street, Mt. Pleasant. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday,
July 3rd, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, 709 East Mapleleaf Drive, Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Gary Van Nyhuis officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established to be used as a college education fund for Brenda’s grandchildren. On-line condolences may be left at www.olsonpowell.com.

The daughter of Harley Eckert and Betty Lou Kilburn, Brenda Kay was born on January 27, 1958, in Iowa City. She lived in Muscatine for thirty years and attended high school there. She also lived in Fremont, IA, for seven years, Grandview, IA for fifteen years, and for the past two years in Mt. Pleasant.

Brenda was a devoted mother and grandmother. She attended Faith Christian Outreach Church. Brenda was an Elvis fan. She liked to crochet and enjoyed attending concerts at Midwest Old Threshers.

Brenda is survived by a loving daughter, Brandi (Lindy) Greenfield of Mt. Pleasant, IA; her father, Harley Eckert of New Mexico; a sister Chris Edington of Webb City, MO; a brother Eddie (Jill) Weikert of Muscatine, IA; and a half-brother, Harley Eckert Jr. of Iowa City, IA. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Briana Greenfield and Lindy Greenfield Jr., both of Mt. Pleasant, IA, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Those preceding Brenda in death include her mother, grandmother, step-father, brother-in-law, aunt, and cousin.
