Myrna Corrine Larkin, 66, of Wayland, formerly of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died after an unexpected illness on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at her home with her family by her side.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 10:30 am at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Rev. Joseph Sia officiated. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery. Following the committal there was a time of food and fellowship at Egert Hall in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation was held on Monday, February 22nd, from 4:00-7:30 pm at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Myrna’s name. Myrna Corrine Frisk was born April 25, 1943 in Muscatine, IA, the daughter of Carl Andrew Leonard and Bonnie Belle (Buster) Frisk. On August 13, 1960 Myrna was united in marriage to Bill Larkin at St. Mary’s Church in Lone Tree, IA. Myrna was a mother and homemaker and helped Bill in his many business ventures. She was an accomplished stained glass artisan for 27 years. She received numerous awards, including Best in Show at the University of Iowa. Her work has been purchased in England, Australia, Russia, Japan and many other countries. She has a piece that was purchased by the Grant Wood Museum and is on display at the Jones County Court House.

Myrna was an avid follower of her children and grandchildren’s sports and school activities. In 28 years Myrna and Bill never missed a school activity for one of her six children. Myrna was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbus Junction and taught Catechism class for many years. She was famous for her cooking, especially her lasagna.

Myrna will be dearly missed by her husband, Bill of Wayland; her children, Christina Kerr of Wayland, Curtis Larkin and wife, Janelle of Johnston, Carrie Ornduff and husband, Kevin of Ainsworth, Charla Howard and husband, Steve of Washington, Carl Larkin of Urbandale and Carmen Lawrence and husband, Ron of Columbus Junction; 12 grandchildren; Corrin, Keely and Kyra Larkin, Alec Ornduff, Deidre, Lexi and Jake Dickinson, Quentin Howard, Chane, Caitlin and Caleb Larkin and Alia Lawrence; 2 step-grandchildren; Erin Phillips and Eric Lawrence; one step-great-grandchild, Hunter Lawrence; three brothers, Dayle and Esther Frisk of Palmdale, CA, Myron and Romie Frisk of Rosemead, CA and Roger “Pink” and Velma Frisk of Colton, CA; and two sisters, Lorna Harris of San Angelo, TX and Vicki Cecil of Columbus City.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Paul Kerr; one brother-in-law, Jack Cecil; and one grandchild in infancy.
